Home-care worker awarded $30,000 in discrimination case

Baywood Home Care, one of the state's largest providers of home health care for senior citizens, must pay $30,000 to a caregiver to resolve allegations that the worker was illegally fired because of a physical disability, in a consent decree reached Wednesday. Laurie J. Goodnough, a former home health aide at Baywood, was allegedly fired in 2011 after two supervisors observed her walking with a cane.
