The House is expected to borrow from private-sector best practices as it attempts to develop a new policy to deal with harassment between MPs, but some unique considerations, namely the public and political nature of an MP's job, need to be made, experts say. Former Parliamentary law clerk Rob Walsh told The Hill Times that the "explosive" nature of the allegations and the public role of an MP underlines the need to keep processes to deal with complaints of harassment private and confidential.
