The U.S. Department of Labor on Tuesday announced an $882,032 National Emergency Grant awarded to the Lummi Nation, giving approximately 630 tribal fishermen affected by fishing industry layoffs in Bellingham access to dislocated worker services. The grant provides services such as skills training, literacy education, career counseling and on-the-job training to people who have been lost work because of the declining numbers of Sockeye Salmon.
