Both federal law - the Americans with Disabilities Act - and state law protect individuals with disabilities from discrimination and require that they be reasonably accommodated. To be sure, there are plenty of issues in ADA cases for litigation, including what is and is not discrimination and what is and is not a reasonable accommodation, but a simple threshold question in such a case is often whether the plaintiff's medical condition is even bad enough to constitute a protected "disability."
