Alfred clinic affected by hospital transition

A primary care clinic in Alfred is among the health care services that will be impacted as St. James Mercy Hospital transitions to an independent health-care system. The Hornell-based hospital this week filed a layoff notice for all 581 employees at seven sites, but also announced in a news release that nearly 400 of those workers are expected to be hired back by various providers who are taking over parts of the business.
