Region's unemployment rate drops to 5.4 percent

Rochester's economy continues its upward climb, with an increase in the number of jobs and a decline in the unemployment rate in December, the state Department of Labor reported Tuesday. The Rochester metro area's jobless rate was 5.4 percent last month, down from 6.1 percent in December 2013, not seasonally adjusted.
