Maryland employers added an estimated 11,000 new jobs in December, driving the state's unemployment rate down a tenth of a percentage point to 5.5 percent, according to data released Tuesday. More than 96 percent of the new jobs were created in the private sector, according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
