Alaska unemployment rate drops

According to new figures from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the state's unemployment rate was 6.6 percent in November, down slightly from October's 6.7 percent but still higher than the national rate of 5.8 percent. Because Alaska's employment is extremely seasonal - with fishing and tourism jobs in demand in the summer but not winter - the state produces a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate each month.
