Stephen Maher: A pundit discovers the perils of playing politics

For the past 12 months I've been a member of the executive of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, the elected board that approves identity cards that allow journalists to gain access to Parliament Hill. In the smallest kind of way, I have been a politician, attending meetings, debating, voting on motions, thinking about what decisions are in the best interests of the 400 members of the gallery.
