Paramus man faces seven years in prison for jobless-benefits fraud

A Paramus man pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy and theft charges for leading a criminal scheme in which he and three other men stole more than $180,000 from the state by filing false claims for unemployment benefits, Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said. The three co-defendants pleaded guilty in December to charges stemming from a plot to file seven fraudulent unemployment insurance claims, including two that used false identities, Hoffman said.
