The state's jobless rate fell to 4.8 percent in December from 5 percent a month earlier as 9,000 people dropped from the ranks of unemployed, pushing the figure to the lowest mark since September 2001, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Friday. A total 278,000 Ohioans were unemployed at year's end, down from 287,000 at Nov. 30, according to the state's monthly analysis of labor market conditions.
