The state's employment rate dropped to 6.4 percent in December, according to data released Monday by the Connecticut Department of Labor, ending the year a full percentage point down from 2013. About 4,800 jobs were added across the state in December, led by growth in the leisure and hospitality sectors, where 2,100 positions rolled onto the books during the month, the state reported.
