Jefferson County's unemployment continues decline in February

The current total is an improvement from January's 5.4 percent in Jefferson County, and a major boost from the year-over-year number of 7.8 percent unemployment in the same month last year, according to the most recent data from the Alabama Department of Labor. Alabama improved statewide, seeing unemployment drop to 5.8 percent, down from 6.3 percent in January.
