City of Eveleth loses discrimination case

Lt. LeRoy Hilde, a police officer with the City of Eveleth, appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals in Minneapolis for protection under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act when the City did not promote him to Chief of Police after applying for the job in 2012. Hilde was hired in 1983 as a full-time patrol officer in Eveleth, and was then promoted to Lieutenant in 1998.
