CT: Norwich Report: Disabled Need Improved Public Transportation

Sept. 15--NORWICH -- The biggest problems faced by local people with disabilities, their families and caregivers also could be the most expensive to correct -- lack of public transportation and crumbling sidewalks and street crossings -- but should be addressed, said a new report recommending the city set up a disabilities commission. Kevin Harkins, who is blind and active in several civic groups, was asked last fall by Mayor Deberey Hinchey to research disabilities issues in the city and explore the possibility of establishing a commission to address them.
