Utah students in welding, medical billing, truck driving and other one-year degree programs at Salt Lake Community College will have more chances to rub elbows with potential employers under a new federal grant. The college's one-year programs allow students to choose their own start dates and work at their own pace, and they're about to get even more flexible with the $2.5 million bonus announced Monday, said Kevin Brockbank, dean of the School of Applied Technology and Professional Development.
