Unemployment in the seven-county Pittsburgh metropolitan area fell two-tenths of a percentage point in December, to a seasonally adjusted level of 4.6 percent, the state Department of Labor and Industry reported this morning. The rate was lower, in part, because from November to December, the number of people who were working rose by 1,200, which was good news, but it was also lowered because 500 fewer people in the region were working or looking for work, that means the labor force shrank during the month.
