Local unemployment rate falls to 6.3%

The unemployment rate in the labor market that includes Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wyoming counties fell by three-tenths of a percentage point in October, to 6.3 percent. It was the lowest rate in more than five years, matching the August 2008 figure, according to figures released by the state Department of Labor & Industry.
