Abortion foes, defenders share rare common ground with pregnancy discrimination

But as the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday in the first pregnancy discrimination case it has considered since 1976, representatives for groups that are often bitter adversaries in the divisive debate over abortion and reproductive rights shared a rare common stage and a common cause. The groups even politely introduced each other - advocates from the National Women's Law Center and the National Association of Evangelicals, Planned Parenthood, and the Christian Legal Society.
