The Aug. 28, 1963, event has become synonymous with Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, the one in which he spoke of a day when the children of former slaves and slave-owners could sit together at the table of brotherhood, of a day when his children would be judged by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin.
