Applications and nominations for the post vacated by sacked Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Gregory Ong will be received by the Judicial and Bar Councl up to tomorrow, Nov. 6, exactly two weeks since the JBC opened the applications last Oct. 24. In an advisory to the public, the JBC also announced that all requirements must be submitted by the applicants/nominees on or before November 21. The basic requirements for the post are the following: natural-born Filipino, above 40 years old, and has practiced law or served as a judge for at least 10 years. Ong was dismissed by the Supreme Court last September for gross misconduct, dishonesty, and impropriety for his reported links to alleged "pork barrel" scam architect Janet Lim Napoles.
