What exemption to US minimum wages law permits a $1 salary?

CEOs like Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt are said to take a US $1 salary. My payroll processing company says that my company must pay me at least the legal minimum wage for a non-exempt position and 2 times minimum wage for an exempt position, both of which far exceed $1.
