St. Lawrence County's official unemployment rate for September, 6.8 percent, was down one whole percent from August, when it stood at 7.8 percent. According to the latest figures from the state Department of Labor, this September's count was down 1.4 percent in a year, when the jobless rate was 8.2 percent.
