Oakland: Two candidates vie for city auditor

In a city with dozens of citizen watchdogs, Oakland's auditor stands alone as the only elected official paid to keep tabs on spending at City Hall. With Courtney Ruby leaving her post to run for mayor, voters will get to choose between one candidate who highlights his familiarity with Oakland politics and another who touts her relative lack of participation as evidence that she would bring independence and "a fresh set of eyes" to the job.
